The 2026-2027 Champions League kicks off with a visit to Napoli in the league phase. Last year’s runners up face a difficult challenge in Italy, but after a London Derby victory at the weekend, will be full of confidence.
Napoli come into the match fresh off a 3-2 loss to Inter. New manager Massimiliano Allegre replaced Antonio Conte at the start of the summer. Familiar faces Kevin De Bruyne, Scott McTominay, and Rasmus Hojlund make up a formidable ex-Manchester trio. David Neres will be a threat from the wings. Napoli will need a response after their recent loss, and the home fans, famous on the continent will provide a hostile atmosphere.
Arsenal will want to go a step further in the Champions League this year and bring home a trophy that has so far eluded them. After last season’s penalty kick heart break, this team should be full of belief to get it done. Light rotation can be expected. The likes of Piero Hincapie, Eberechi Eze, and Martin Zubimendi could all find their way into the side. Viktor Gyökeres could start, but it’s more likely Kai Havertz continues in attack.
Can Arsenal put down a marker in Italy? Or will Napoli give the Gunners a wake up call? Join us on Wednesday at Dillon’s. Let’s get this European campaign started!
