Event Details
Arsenal approach Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg against PSV Eindhoven at the Emirates Stadium with a commanding 7-1 aggregate advantage, following a dominant performance in the first leg in Eindhoven. Domestically, the Gunners' Premier League campaign continues to be a slog on the heels of the 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford at the weekend, leaving them 15 points adrift of leaders Liverpool. The return of Gabriel Martinelli from a hamstring injury, marked by his substitute appearance against United, offers a timely boost to Arsenal's attack. With a Champions League quarter-final against one of the Madrid sides potentially looming, Mikel Arteta is likely to rotate the squad in order to give some of the regular starters a rest. In addition Martinelli, Jurrien Timber, and Raheem Sterling are all one booking away from a European suspension.
PSV, whose manager Peter Bosz seemingly has a Postecoglu-like stubbornness when it comes to their playing style, have been dealing with their own injury concerns. Forward Ricardo Pepi is doubtful due to a knee issue, Malik Tillman is nursing an ankle injury, and Tarik Bajraktarevic is sidelined with a knee problem.
In more positive news for the Dutch side, defender Sergiño Dest made his return from a lengthy injury layoff, featuring in PSV's recent Eredivisie victory over Heerenveen. Despite these challenges, PSV will be aiming to restore pride in the second leg, although overturning the significant deficit remains a formidable task.
We'll be in the upstairs bar for this one, owing to the later kick-off thanks to the UK not changing clocks for another couple weeks. See you at Dillon's!
