UCL: Arsenal v Paris Saint-Germain

Real Madrid came and went. The Arsenal is still standing in the world’s foremost club competition. The Gunners, of course, dispatched the reigning and seemingly perennial UCL champions with another memorable performance in the Spanish capital. Despite another uninspired showing in the league against Crystal Palace, the Gunners will be up for this one as they seek the first European Cup in club history. With a timely break from domestic action this weekend , Mikel Arteta's side has had ample time to regroup and focus on the upcoming challenge. However, the suspension of Thomas Partey and the injury doubt over Mikel Merino pose selection dilemmas in midfield. Arteta may need to rely on the versatility of Declan Rice and the creativity of Martin Ødegaard to control the tempo against a dynamic PSG side. The Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal previously bested PSG 2-0 in the group stage, will be pivotal in setting the tone for this semi-final clash.​

Next up is Paris Saint-Germain. The Gunners host Luis Enrique’s side in the first leg Tuesday at Emirates Stadium before the tie shifts to Paris the following Wednesday. PSG is much a different side than the one Arsenal defeated in the competition’s league phase. Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, and others have found their form and emerged as the form side in Europe. Having already wrapped up a 12th Ligue 1 title in 13 years, PSG is on cruise control domestically. Their tactical flexibility, often shifting from a 4-3-3 to a 3-2-5 in attack, allows them to exploit spaces and overload flanks, particularly through Achraf Hakimi's surging runs . Luis Enrique's decision to not focus on set pieces ahead of the clash could be a strategic gamble, especially against an Arsenal side proficient in dead-ball situations.
