UCL: Arsenal v Olympiakos

That was fun.

Let’s do it again. Olympiakos come to the Emirates in Wednesday for a second match day in the Champions League league stage. The Greek champions are well-versed in European competition and have even knocked out an Arteta Arsenal side a few years back, albeit in the Europa League. Arsenal, one of this year’s Champions League favorites, will be hoping to make it two wins from two in front of a packed crowd in North London.

Olympiakos are the champions of Greece, but they limp into this match having drawn against Cypriot side Pafos in match week one. You can expect they will be very defensive and try to hit Arsenal on the break.

Arsenal come into the match after a late win over Athletic Club in the first match of the league phase. Late goals from Martinelli and Trossard were the difference. Their late win this past weekend at Newcastle will have them full of confidence, but they cannot overlook what will be stubborn opposition. This is an ideal game for Viktor Gyokeres to bag a few goals after a really priming performance at St. James Park.
