Let’s Start Again.
Arsenal travel to the West Midlands for a match against Wolverhampton Wanderers. With the North London Derby following at the weekend, the Gunners will need to stay focused on the task at-hand to avoid a humiliating result. Rob Edwards’s Wolves side have gained six of their nine points since the start of the year. Arsenal have won only three of their last eight matches away from home in the league.
Wolves have had a disastrous season. Relegation is a near certainty. That being said, they did trouble Arsenal in the reverse fixture. Arsenal only managed three points after a stoppage time own goal meant that Wolves’ late equalizer meant nothing. Rob Edwards will likely set his side out in a deep block. Their most recent league match was a draw against Nottingham Forest where his side faced 35 shots without conceding. In attack, 18 year old starlet Mateus Mane will hope to continue his fine form and spark an upset.
Mikel Arteta will surely remind his side of the earlier fixture. Another performance like that will surely be problematic for the visitors. After a 4-0 drubbing of Wigan in the FA Cup, Arsenal have found some new patterns in attack, and it will be interesting to see how Arteta sends his team out. Bukayo Saka operating centrally may be something the manager wants to get another look at. Eberechi Eze also made a case for another run out. With a few players missing in the creative midfield role, a creative solution will be needed to compete on all four fronts.
Can Arsenal take care of business at Molineux? Or will Wolves do the unthinkable? We’ll be at Dillon’s on Wednesday afternoon to see it all. We hope to see you there!
