PL: Sunderland v Arsenal

Arsenal visits Sunderland for a Saturday night showcase! The Gunners head north after defeating Napoli midweek. It’s the second of four consecutive away trips in all competitions, and this will provide another opportunity to improve on dropped points from a year ago.

Roger Le Bris’s Sunderland have picked up where they left off: They look like a sturdy, consistent PL side. With four points from their opening three fixtures, they’ll view Arsenal as a major scalp. Last year’s fixture saw Arsenal fall behind, go ahead, and then lose their lead to draw in the closing moments. Enzo Le Fee and Brian Brobbey will provide interesting tests for Arsenal’s defense, and Granit Xhaka remains a stalwart in their midfield. The Black Cats will also have their fierce crowd behind them to provide the twelfth man.

Arsenal look to remain perfect across all competitions. After Martin Ødegaard’s midweek rocket took the points in Italy, our captain looks to be back to his best. He’ll spearhead an attach likely to feature Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka. Jurrien Timber traveled to Italy, so it’s possible he makes the bench for this one. After last season’s disappointment at the Stadium of Light, Mikel Arteta’s team will know a stern challenge awaits.
