Arsenal travel to Old Trafford on Sunday for their penultimate match of the season. Nothing but a win will do. Arsenal sit atop the Premier League table, although Manchester City would be top if they were to win their game in hand. Even with United’s poor form, they cannot be underestimated this weekend, as anything but a win will virtually guarantee the end of Arsenal’s title bid.
Mikel Arteta will hope that Kai Havertz continues to give him a reason to keep his striker powder dry this summer. The Gunners have failed to win at Old Trafford since 2020, with their most recent trip being derailed by a Martin Odegaard ‘foul’ in the buildup to a Martinelli goal. His side will know that Sunday is a time to write history than to relive it.
Manchester United, fresh off a 4-0 drubbing by Crystal Palace and finding themselves out of the European places, will be hoping the friendly confines of their home will give them a boost. Erik Ten Haag’s tenure as manager has seen his side ship more than 80 goals this season. The Red Devils have a negative goal difference. Excuses are wearing thin for the Dutchman, but if anyone can find something to blame besides himself, it’s this guy.
