Now we’re rolling...
Fresh off a 2-0 victory over Manchester United, third-placed Arsenal travel to Craven Cottage to face one of last year’s bogey teams, Fulham. The Gunners will be desperate to right the wrongs of last season, having dropped 6 points to The Cottagers a year ago. Marco Silva’s Fulham have won 2, drawn 2, and lost one of their last five matches, and they boast several familiar faces.
Mikel Arteta’s men have found their footing since the last international break with big victories away from home in Europe, as well as at the Emirates. Their set pieces continue to go from strength to strength. And their defense is beginning to look like the formidable unit we saw last campaign. That being said, with an important Champions League tie next week, he’ll have to rotate carefully to avoid picking up any new injuries. Might this be a game for someone like Gabriel Jesus to remind the boss of what he can do? Or will our right side continue to be our biggest threat (besides Saliba’s butt)?
Fulham have done well this season. New signings Joachim Anderson and Sander Berge have helped stabilize their squad. And former Gunners, Alex Iwobi, Emile Smith Rowe, and Reiss Nelson have looked sharp. Old friend Bernd Leno will be between the sticks.
Join us on Sunday at Dillon’s for a sort of Hale End reunion. For Arsenal to stay in the race, they’ll have to get some revenge and kill their darlings (Sorry, Emile).
