To the Bridge
The Premier League’s top two face off in West London on Sunday. It’s Arsenal versus Chelsea, and for the first time it years, it feels like this one will be significant for both teams.
Chelsea are riding high, having thrashed Barcelona in the Champion’s League midweek and winning their last three in the league. All of this has been without talisman Cole Palmer. Reece James has remained fit and appears reborn in the Chelsea midfield, joining Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo to form a formidable engine room. In attack, Chelsea have been lifted by teenage sensation Estevao. Pedro Neto, another oft-injured star, has enjoyed a good run of form. Enzo Maresca’s side will see this as a chance to prove their title credentials.
Arsenal are top, and they’re top for a reason. In the past five days, they’ve crushed Tottenham and played Bayern Munich off the pitch. They keep losing players, and new ones step up. Wednesday night showed the levels in the Arsenal side: Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli, freshly fit, enter the fray and kill the game off. Mikel Arteta has created a monster, unbeaten in their last fifteen matches across all competitions. This is another big challenge, and this Arsenal team appears ready for them all. Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, and Bukayo Saka will be crucial to a victory. But don’t overlook Mikel Merino, who has led the line and run his socks off to make the Arsenal attack tick.
Will Arsenal slip up and open the door to a new title contender? Or will they complete the perfect week and make a resounding statement? Join us at Dillon’s on Sunday, and we’ll find out together.
