In the first of 10 matches in 37 days, Arsenal return to Premier League action with a trip to West London to take on Brentford. The Gunners won the first meeting between these sides this season at the GTech, 0-1, in Carabao Cup play back in September. The big talking point in advance of this one will be Aaron Ramsdale’s return between the sticks, as David Raya is ineligible to play against his parent club.
As for Brentford, they’ve been a tricky opponent who have generally punched above their weight since arriving in the Premier League. The Bees famously (or infamously) defeated Mikel Arteta’s Covid-depleted side in the 21/22 season opener, and earned a draw at the Emirates last season thanks to Lee Mason’s incompetence and a bit of rotten luck.
