Arsenal are back in Premier League action this weekend, looking to build on their unbeaten start to the season. The Gunners sit third in the table with 14 points from their first six matches, just behind Manchester City on goal difference. However, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing. Injuries, notably to Martin Ødegaard, have forced some tactical adjustments, with Jurrien Timber and Benjamin White facing late fitness tests. The relentless fixture list could see some rotation after midweek Champions League action that also saw the debut of new signing Mikel Merino. Regardless, Arteta's men will be eager to keep their momentum going at the Emirates​ ahead of another totally necessary interlull.

Southampton, meanwhile, return to North London fresh from their promotion through the Championship play-offs. The Saints have struggled so far, sitting near the bottom of the table with just one point from six matches. A leaky defence has been their Achilles’ heel, with Southampton shipping 12 goals already this season. This match also marks a bittersweet homecoming for Aaron Ramsdale, who now plays between the sticks for the South Coast side after his time at Arsenal. He’s sure to receive a warm reception from the fans, even though they'll be hoping he has a quiet day​.
