No Place Like Home.

Fresh off four away games, Arsenal return home to The Emirates to host Manchester United. The Gunners remain atop the league, while fifth place United have risen to fifth. Mikel Arteta’s side have handled United in recent times, although many results have been closer than you would expect on paper. United will come into this match with nothing to lose after a resounding Manchester Derby result a week ago.

Interim Manager Michael Carrick enjoyed a 2-0 derby victory that could have been 5 or 6 in truth. Back to near full fitness, United displayed a new energy and resolve. They were electric on the counter and brave in the tackle. It’s the sort of performance that reveals a bit about the players: Where was the energy under the previous regime? United are unbeaten in their last five league matches. Bruno Fernandes, Lisandro Martinez and even Luke Shaw have returned to full fitness. Bryan Mbuemo, who scored in their derby, will be a major threat and has priors against Arsenal.

Arsenal are top for a reason. They have conceded just five goals at home and remain unbeaten there. Despite a draw at Forest a week ago, they gained a point on their rivals. With City facing Wolves, Arsenal will need to be at their best to avoid giving back the point they gained. After a convincing win against Inter Milan midweek, Arsenal will need to refocus. Martin Ødegaard will be desperate for a good performance after being anonymous in the last match. As captain, all eyes are on him to perform. Alongside the captain, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka will lead the charge. Viktor Gyökeres, still struggling for consistency, could change the narrative with one moment. Let’s hope!

Will Arsenal put United back in their place? Or can Michael Carrick manage a second massive win on the bounce? The weather forecast calls for snow, but we’ll be at Dillon’s no matter the weather (it’s in the song!). Join us Sunday, and we’ll do our part!
