PL: Arsenal v Leicester City

Arsenal continue their title push with a visit from newly-returned Leicester City. After last-second heartbreak at the death last weekend, the Gunners rebounded nicely midweek in the Carabao Cup, thrashing Bolton 5-1. They will hope this scoring form continues in the league as they enter what should on paper be an easier run of fixtures.

With the Foxes winless through their opening five matches, Steve Cooper will hope his men can turn it around. A signature win would go a long way towards instilling such belief. The East Midlands side feature many familiar names like Conor Coady, Ricardo Perreira, Oliver Skipp, Harry Winks, Wilfried Ndidi, and the Belgian David Luiz, Wout Faes. Former Young Gun Stephy Mavididi will feature alongside a pair of Arsenal tormenters in attack in Jamie Vardy and Jordan Ayew. Though promoted, Leicester have plenty of the experience needed to make this a difficult match.

Arsenal are still in the thick of an injury crisis. But Arteta will consider his ranks expanded following a glowing performance from Ethan Nwaneri midweek. Trossard also returns to the side after suspension. Defensively, he’ll be sweating on the fitness of Ben White, Jurrien Timber, and David Raya. If all three are unavailable, it will mean an Arsenal debut for Norberto Neto in goal. As for right back, who knows? Perhaps Partey will join the backline as we’ve seen in the past. Josh Nichols acquitted himself well against Bolton, and he may find himself called upon. While Arsenal have performed well in Odegaard’s absence, the visitors will present a different threat in a low block. It will be incumbent on Arsenal to be the protagonists and break down the Leicester defense, while not leaving the backdoor open to counter.
