It's almost that time again...

Arsenal have reshaped their squad aggressively this summer under Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta, investing over £190 million to bolster key areas. The club secured the signature of midfielder Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, midfielder Christian Nørgaard from Brentford , goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and winger Noni Madueke from Chelsea, centre-half Christhian Mosquera from Valencia, and of course, striker Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP. All demonstrate clear intent to close the gaps from recent seasons. On tour in Asia, Arsenal began strongly, winning on penalties against AC Milan before edging Newcastle 3‑2 in Singapore, though a narrow defeat to Spurs in Hong Kong rounded off the trip with mixed but encouraging signs of tactical fluidity and squad development

Now comes (The Prestigious) Emirates Cup on 9 August– Arsenal’s final tune‑up before the Premier League opener on 17 August. Athletic Club arrive from La Liga with their own identity: a physically disciplined side under manager Ernesto Valverde, traditionally relying on Basque‑only talent. The Gunners will field new signings such as Zubimendi and Madueke alongside established figures like captain Martin Ødegaard, William Saliba, and Bukayo Saka, while Athletic will likely line up names such as Iker Muniain, Iñaki Williams and veteran goalkeeper Unai Simón. It’s a crucial chance for Arteta to test his revamped midfield and attacking structure– with Gyökeres likely featuring– ahead of the Old Trafford test less than a week later.

Folks, (The Prestigious) Emirates Cup is our one chance this summer to get together as a group before the pressures of the season begin. In lieu of a pub crawl this year, we will hold a Beginning-Of-Season party after the final whistle. Appetizers will be provided.
