CC: Ipswich Town v Arsenal

Arsenal begin their Carabao Cup run with a visit to newly promoted Ipswich Town on Tuesday. After falling short at the final hurdle last season, Mikel Arteta want to go one step further in the competition this year.

Ipswich Town come into this match fresh off a 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace in the league. Gary O’Neil’s side are currently ninth in the PL with six points from their opening four matches. The signing of Exequiel Palacios raised some eyes brows in the summer, and he’ll be expected to anchor the midfield against Arsenal. Julio Enciso and Jaden Philogene will provide the attacking threat, while striker Emersonn will be a game time decision from a knock against Palace.

Mikel Arteta will likely rotate his side, but he has a habit of doing less rotation than some fans would want. Ben White limped off against Sunderland which means Jurrien Timber could get the start at right back. The likes of Mikel Merino, Bruno Guimaraes, and Martin Zubimendi will all likely make the starting lineup. An away trip at this stage of the competition can be a challenge, and the Gunners will need to be at their best to progress, especially against a side who will view a possible scalp as season defining.

Can the Tractor Boys spring an upset and write their fairytale? Or will the Arsenal machine carry on without an issue? Join us on Tuesday afternoon at Dillon’s to cheer on the lads!
