Round 2
Arsenal hosts Chelsea in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final. Both sides are coming off PL victories at the weekend, and both sides will believe they can get to Wembley. Mikel Arteta’s side enter the tie with a 3-2 advantage, although anything but a win will leave them ruing defensive lapses in the initial encounter.
Liam Rosenior’s tenure at Chelsea is off to a positive start. His side squeaked into the top eight of the CL league phase, and they have won their last three in the league. Moises Caicedo, Reece James, and Cole Palmer will all be available after missing the first leg. Chelsea are a side with nothing to lose, and they will attack Arsenal with reckless abandon. First-leg spark plug Estevao may miss the match due to travel. Rosenior will believe his pacey attackers can cause damage, while their midfield will kick away at our players as much as they can—this is the norm.
Arsenal could have scored six in the first leg. They will need a strong defensive showing to ensure no regrets. Kai Havertz, recently back into the team, will be aiming to down his former side. Bukayo Saka may miss the match with injury, but another former Chelsea start, Noni Madueke will deputize with a point to prove. It will be a toss up for who leads the line, with both our strikers scoring most recently against Leeds.
Can Arsenal finish the job and punch a ticket to Wembley? Or will Chelsea spring a surprise in North London? Join us at Dillon’s Tuesday afternoon. We’re one step away from the final, and we need everyone behind the team.
